Roger wandered the empty planet alone until he came upon a tiny, floating pyramid. "Hello," he said. The pyramid's eye began to glow. Roger could feel the universe stretching out behind him. Infinite shades of existence. Realities beyond measure. "I, uh, was just going to ask for directions." #storiesfromotherworlds
After setting countless traps the coyote had given up hope of ever catching the bird. He was a logical creature at his core but couldn't help think the very nature of the world was against him. #storiesfromotherworlds
A glimpse of a strange being flashed before the creature's eyes and, as it crawled towards the thing, everything turned dark. Later, the creature stirred as if rising from a deep sleep, with the lingering feeling that something precious had been lost. #storiesfromotherworlds
As the portal opened, the cyclopean city appeared below them; its stone walls tilting at impossible angles. The six friends knew this would be a night they would never forget. #storiesfromotherworlds
Charlie had been waiting tables for years to pay for the operation. As his new eyes adjusted to the light, he came into focus. He had never been happier. #storiesfromotherworlds
Born from forgotten alchemy, let loose in the universe. Striking to witness, seemingly intangible. Silent prophets circling a nucleus of truth. Creatures who could sense the end from the very beginning. #storiesfromotherworlds
The castaway could not believe his luck. He was safe at last. He could finally relax. Over the crackle of the fire, he heard a sigh. It was not coming from him. #storiesfromotherworlds
A parade of faithful figures wanders on, surrounded by a vast desert, guided by an unseen escort, uncertain of their destination, content with their journey.⠀

This drawing is inspired by Bruce Pennington's cover art for the 1972 edition of Dune Messiah. Swipe past the process shots to see it! My caption was inspired by a quote from the book: “They are not mad. They're trained to believe, not to know. Belief can be manipulated. Only knowledge is dangerous.” - Frank Herbert⠀
Jenny had read all the seventeenth-century spell books and knew the names of all the demons. But when the Order of the Spirit ditched her outside the club, the young girl had to wonder if she was really cut out for the occult. #storiesfromotherworlds

Earlier this week I had the chance to visit The Morgan Library in NYC and see an amazing exhibit of JRR Tolkien’s hand-drawn notes, reference maps, watercolor paintings, and other world-building artifacts. I spent hours wandering around the exhibit, squinting at his small elegant handwriting until I got a headache. I came home and decided to draw something inspired by one of my favorite passages in The Two Towers: "
Suddenly, caught by the level beams, Frodo saw the old king's head: it was lying rolled away by the roadside. 'Look, Sam!' he cried, startled into speech. 'Look! The king has got a crown again!' The eyes were hollow and the carven beard was broken, but about the high stern forehead, there was a coronal of silver and gold. A trailing plant with flowers like small white stars had bound itself across the brows as if in reverence for the fallen king, and in the crevices of his stony hair yellow stonecrop gleamed. 'They cannot conquer forever!' said Frodo. And then suddenly the brief glimpse was gone. The Sun dipped and vanished, and as if at the shuttering of a lamp, black night fell."
Winston stood alone on the empty planet, contemplating the rainbow. "The wisdom of nature reveals itself in the quiet moments," he said aloud, wishing that someone was there to appreciate how smart he sounded. #storiesfromotherworlds

This drawing is inspired by globby monsters, needy facebook posts and the poem "The rainbow never tells me" by Emily Dickenson. Yes, you read that right.⠀
Growing up, I had this fear that mailboxes were somehow bigger on the inside and it was very likely that SOMETHING was in there waiting to attack me. It's probably a symptom of growing up in a small town and feeling overwhelmed on a trip to the city... plus I had definitely seen Ghostbusters a million times before I'd ever gone to New York. I (eventually) overcame that fear and learned to love the fantasy/sci-fi trope of “bigger on the inside” #storiesfromotherworlds
Scrap Bot finds a rare, magic dragon head and sells it for a million fantasy world coins. The end. #storiesfromotherworlds
